Adorable
Adorable and not at all creepy. Just because it sits there and stares at me. Wearing the sweater I knit for it. Staring. Watching. Waiting.
Unbelievable
Had to knit a little. Yeah, just a little teeny bit. I’ll just cast on a few stitches. See how it knits up– then I’ll frog it and wind it back up. That’s the ticket. Pictured are size 11 knitting needles and my swatch. The fabric has a very cool squish and bounce to it.
Incredible
That’s the name of the yarn. Incredible. It’s quite pretty, not that soft (although who knows what this will do when washed, my experience with Lion Brand yarns has been tainted with unexpected laundering results.) I think it’s pretty incredible that the first time I buy yarn this year it’s LB from the dollar store [...]
Pondering
After putting some lace knitting behind me, I totally understand the value of knitting something that keeps one entertained. Am I just a freak of nature because I’m not bored by stockinette or garter stitch? Or am I just so obsessed with composition that I think the eye should have a clear line to travel [...]
Babe in a Flower Basket
Lexi seems quite pleased with a shawl of her own. I think this will also make it much easier for her to leave my Icarus alone (although she’s terribly adorable when she tries to wear it, in no small part because it’s so huge on her.) See? I told you she could pull off wearing [...]
Finished the Flower Basket
Seriously, I finished the shawl. I even blocked it. It’s after 8 o’clock so the intended recipient is unavailable to model it. It’s past her bed time. Although it’s pretty heartening to hear, “That’s my beautiful shawl?” as I pin it to shape on the quilt. I think Lexi likes it. The yarn is handspun [...]
Flower Baskets and Tie-dyed
I’m working on the Flower Basket Shawl it’s a fun little knit, originally I planned doing it on size 5 needles using a single ply of yarn, but I ended up frogging it and using the doubled yarn on size 7s. As is it’s still a very small shawl but I plan on giving it [...]
WP updated, archives fixed & socks knit
I did that. I also made donuts, fry bread and crullers because I’m so talented. The socks are really nothing special, I’m pretty boring as socks go. Pink merino handspun, size 1 dpns, and a few evenings. They are a little baggy, but soft and comfy. Updating the blog and fixing the archives was a [...]
Being offline sucks
On the bright side, being offline gave me plenty of time to start (and finish) a sweater for the girl-child. It’s a gray 4-ply spindle spun merino yarn, 5 stitches per inch. Mostly from the size 30″ child’s raglan pattern from “the knitter’s handy book of sweater patterns” by Ann Budd. I was sort of [...]
C’est Fini: Icarus
I finished the Icarus shawl today. Here is a close up of it. I’ll bask in the glory of completion for a little while, before a good bout of Post Project Depression settles in. This is my first big lace project from a chart, it’s the first shawl I’ve ever knit from my own yarn, [...]
