I know everyone says not to apologize for not blogging, nor blog about having not blogged. I could make excuses. I could cringe and wait for criticisms. I could simply ignore the fact that I’ve once again let my self imposed obligations fall to the wayside. I could apologize. All of the above are more [...]
Candy. Sushi. Candy + Sushi = candy sushi. I’ve wanted to do this since spotting this Make: How to. I made the rice crispy treat base, but everything else was a group effort with the kids right down to the roe eggs and oddly placed jelly & marshmallow frogs on the board. Lexi even added [...]
Disappointing for vendors, awesome for buyers. I’m going to embrace the whole “If you can’t say something nice about a craft fair coordinator don’t say anything at all.” but I will say its not a good sign when you visit with friends from bazaars past and the first thing out of their mouths is “This [...]
Getting ready for a craft show on short notice and a strict time budget is challenging. It’s not something that I deal with gracefully, but I manage to deal with it well enough. Usually I’m not in a time crunch but bless my mom’s heart– she said “Why don’t we skip the craft fair this [...]
I love Christmas holiday fabrics. It doesn’t matter what time of year, how funky I feel or how not in the holiday spirit I might be– there’s always a little part of me that jumps up and down like a hyperactive 10 year old on a handful of twinkies when I get to pull out [...]
I’ve been listlessly wracking my brains for a project so I decided to grab the igolochkoy (a word that drives spell checkers mad) needle and some embroidery thread. The design is a chinese woodcut of a dragon (I love wikipedia image searches) that I traced to some linen using a Sulky Iron-on transfer pen.
Quick pattern: Cast on 36 stitches, row 1-4 knit 3, (p6, k3) p last 3 stitches. Pattern stitch: k 3, (p2, yo, p2tog, p2, k2, yo, p2tog) p last 3 stitches. Repeat until scarf is long enough. Last 3 rows: k3, (p6, k6), p last 3 stitches. For tidy edges always slip the first stitch [...]
I had other plans for this yarn. Yet the best laid plans sometimes go by the wayside to satisfy the compulsion to knit a scarf. Scarves are good. I could have worse problems you know.
Eye pins, pliers, beads, clasps. Lots and lots of repetitive bending. A few hours and a couple of sore hands later and I have some pretty jewelry. I guess my hands aren’t too terribly sore, because I’m still able to use them to pat myself on the back. Does anyone know what that kind of [...]
The final cozy felted a bit more than the gauge swatch, leaving the bottom of my tea pot exposed, but not by much. I think if I were to reknit this I’d add at least 3 more inches in length. Maybe just a squidge more. The finishing was super easy, I snipped a small hole [...]
